Thank you, Tony!

Five year-old Tony learned how to use his first ever pair of prosthetic legs, through a pledge to walk 10km in 30 days to raise funds for Evelina London.

Tony’s parents, Paula and Mark, expected him to raise £500. But, with the whole nation behind him, he has raised over £1,500,000 in total for the hospital that has looked after him since he was just five weeks old.

Amazed by Captain Tom’s walking frame fundraiser, and inspired to see someone that ‘looks like me’- Tony wanted to start a challenge of his own.

“The community has been absolutely fantastic,”
says dad, Mark.
“Every day the walk is taking longer and longer because more people are coming out to watch him and cheer him on,”
adds mum, Paula.

Generous contributions from fundraising activities such as Tony, Paula and Mark’s make an enormous difference. They enhance our ability to care for the children who need us most but also ensures that all children in our care can live their best lives, today and tomorrow - from small things like making sure that the environment is extra special so that children and families feel safe and happy, to the big items like funding research, new facilities and cutting edge technology.

We will work together with Tony and his family, because we always start by listening to children and their families. Together, we can find something that can have a real impact for other families.

“We are so proud of him and are behind him every step of the way, I’m sure he will achieve this and much more, he is such a bright little boy.”
